The day that changed my life.

So.. After I got out of the Navy, I was bouncing around from place to place, state to state, just trying to keep my head above water. Max and I ended up moving in with a great friend of mine and his family out in Houston, TX for a while. While we were there, they fell in love with Max, because let’s be honest.. Who doesn’t?! haha! But we stayed there for a bit, then it was time to move on. We finally made it back here to Vancouver, and I found an apartment. I was pretty anti-human for a while, so the idea of a romantic relationship was very much out of the question.

Rainy day in Texas
Finally got my own place to live

But, one day, everything changed.

There was a small, run down dog park of sorts there at my apartment complex that I would often take Max to so he could go to the bathroom. One day, we went out there and the small park was empty except for a pretty girl and her Beagle. Max and I went in and the pups played and sniffed each other’s butts and us humans started a very pleasant conversation. It was very nice talking to her. She was very friendly. We chatted away and I mentioned to her “oh yeah! I live in that building right there!” and pointed. She smiled and nodded and we continued to talk. Once it was time for us to part ways, I told her it was very nice talking to her and I hoped we would bump into each other again. But like I said earlier, the idea of a romantic relationship was out of the question, so it didn’t even occur to me to ask her for her number. What a dummy right?!

Well, thankfully, she was braver than I was, because later that day I found a small sticky note in-between the two doors in my apartment building (she knew what building I lived in, but not what apartment exactly) that said “If the pups ever want to get together again to play, let me know. ~T,” and then her phone number. 🙂

Even then, I almost chickened out!

I had to psyche myself up a bit to get the courage to reach out to her, but, I’m very happy to say, I finally did. We talked and decided to meet up at a local Starbucks for coffee. We had a wonderful time (even though I found out that she doesn’t even drink coffee. haha! It’s ok though, they have tea too) and we agreed to continue to meet up and text and talk. She was wonderful. And… I quickly fell for her. We officially became boyfriend/girlfriend, and Max and Brownie the Beagle became buds.
